Electric vortex and mechanical vortex
Some systems create a vortex in water with an electric motor, and some, like Sophia, move the water in a spiral motion through a pipe using only the force of the flow.
The practical differences
A mechanical system uses no electricity, makes no noise and has no motor to maintain. An electric system allows fast spinning, but depends on electricity and moving parts.
What is known and what is not
Some believe that natural spiral motion, without a motor, better matches the way water moves in nature. There is reason to believe this is a valid direction, but these are early indications that still need large-scale scientific validation. We do not claim measurable differences in conductivity, water structure or health effects between the two methods.
Sophia
In the Sophia system, water flows through a figure-8 copper pipe, with no electricity and no filters, throughout the home. A water bar gives you clean water in the glass, but depleted water. Sophia can replace filters and water bars, or work alongside them.
